Grantley Hall

Grantley Hall

Rawnaq hotel collection

Not all five stars shine. We’ve visited thousands to find the ones that truly do. Why Grantley Hall ?

On the fringe of Yorkshire Dales, Grantley Hall is a 17th-century mansion brought back to life after a 4-year renovation. The new Relais & Châteaux property is set on 38 acres of parkland, including a Grade II-listed garden.

With just 47 rooms in a stately country home, Grantley Hall feels closer to a film set than a hotel you can check into for a night. There’s the Palladian architecture, of course, with the columned reception rooms and a decor rich in oak panelling, velvet furniture and eclectic artworks. Then there are the doors that open onto numerous terraces with views of the surrounding parkland and a gorgeous Grade II-listed Japanese garden, thought to be the oldest in England. The rooms, despite the grandeur of the common areas, offer a more muted atmosphere, done in shades of cream and grey, and with original Georgian fireplaces, shelves of modern hardbacks and televisions hidden behind paintings. But the absolute highlight of the hotel is the Three Graces Spa, with its 18-meter pool, an outdoor hydrotherapy pool, a cedar hot tub and a cryotherapy chamber. As for the choice of dining options, Grantley Hall is home to 7 restaurants and bars, including the fine-dining Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, Asian restaurant EightyEight and a subterranean champagne bar named after owner Valeria Sykes. Come nighttime, it’s the place to be for a drink, surrounded by old-world glamour reminiscent of the days of the Great Gatsby

Waldorf Astoria Beijing

From the outside, the Waldorf Astoria Beijing, with its shiny facade of copper and bronze latticework, makes a pretty good case for being one of the city’s most glamorous hotels, but inside… Ah, that’s where the magic really happens.

Bvlgari Hotel Beijing

Savvy business travelers and A-listers like Bella Hadid can’t get enough of it, and we don’t blame them. After all, from the cosseting interiors of the Bvlgari Hotel Beijing, the perspective on the congested city outside is different.
