Badrutt's Palace Hotel

Set 6,000 ft up the Swiss Alps with gorgeous views over the surrounding landscape, this is a hotel with extravagance around every corner. With 157 rooms, each more elegant and timeless than the next, Badrutt’s Palace Hotel is all about old-world glamour. For a start, there is its Belle Epoque facade with its towers and turrets, snow-capped in winter and sun-soaked in summer, that makes for a castle straight out of a fairytale. Inside, the rooms and common areas are upscale sanctuaries with traditional furnishings, 19th-century artworks and a timber-heavy decor. There is a sense of history here, that starts with the hotel’s ecclesiastical lobby and permeates all the way through its eleven restaurants and bars, including the gourmet Le Restaurant, the King’s Social House, which is the oldest nightclub in Switzerland, and the hotel’s rustic-chic farmhouse that now houses a pizzeria and a grill in a chalet-style atmosphere. The hotel is also home to a spa, accessible via an underground tunnel, and at the end of which is an indoor pool with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Alps.
