Hotel d’Angleterre is a place that’s closely linked to the history of Copenhagen. For centuries, it’s hosted dignitaries and celebrities, and many important events. In 2013, the hotel reopened after a 2-year renovation, bringing it into the 21st century. The period features like the grand proportions, the stately columns and the lavish chandeliers are still there but a color palette of muted lilacs and greys makes it a place of contemporary comfort and style. The hotel is also home to just 92 rooms, each different with touches like balconies and fireplaces, or direct views over Kongens Nytorv. On the culinary front, Michelin-starred Marchal has been the heart and soul of Hotel d’Angleterre since 1755. It’s the restaurant a servant of the court and the daughter of the royal chef opened, which ultimately became Hotel d’Angleterre. As for the Balthazar Champagne Bar, it’s a sleek, chandelier-strewn bar with a menu of more than 200 bubblies. The hotel also boasts a terrace that opens on the stately Kongens Nytorv while elsewhere, the Asian-inspired spa and the heated indoor pool are good places to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
